About NCATA
August 2008
School days, school days those dear ole' golden rule days......... Remember the days when it was so exciting to start back to school? We had the bulletin boards to do, the name tags to fix for the cubbies and folders, names in the books, and a little surprise for the children on the first day. It was exciting to meet all of the new children in your room and in the school. I hope those days are not lost to you and you will be just as excited as you were then. We still have so many things to be thankful for and the most important are the children that we have been entrusted with for 7 and 1/2 hours a day.
As we start a new year, we must remember that we won a victory this summer when the governor signed the budget. We will get the 2.75% raise or the $1,100, whichever is more. A BIG THANK YOU GOES OUT TO OUR LOBBYIST, JOANNE STEVENS, MELINDA ZARATE, OUR LEGISLATIVE CHAIRPERSON, AND ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF NCATA. It certainly makes going back to school a sweet success. Wouldn't it be great to see our membership double because of the increase in our checks?
NCATA works very hard for the teacher assistants and we all know our organization is the only one that works exclusively for us. Again, my challenge to ALL of the members of this fine organization is go out and campaign for NCATA. We still need members to show the General Assembly we mean business and with numbers we can do that.
God Bless each of you and I hope the excitement is in your face as you look at each one of those precious children that come into your life for the next 180 days. I know you will see the excitement in the parents' face as you get their babies, once again.
